Two unnamed women were found dead of gunshot wounds inside a Philadelphia row house. Police have questioned one man, but they have not revealed any information regarding a possible motive.
Police say that they were called to a home in the 1200 block of Greeby Street at about 11:21 p.m. on January 29, 2018. They had gotten a report of a person with a gun. Officers were on the scene shortly thereafter, according to a report from ABC WPVI-TV in Philadelphia.
Scott Small, the Philadelphia police chief inspector, said that one victim was a 66-year-old woman who was found in a wheelchair. The other victim was a 44-year-old woman whose body was found in a second-floor hallway.
The victims, who had both been shot in the head, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police found a gun inside the home, but it’s not clear if it’s the murder weapon, according to CBS Philadelphia.
Detectives have been focusing their attention on a man who greeted police at the door of the home on January 29. He was taken in for questioning.
“We do have an individual that was inside the house that was transported to homicide as a witness,” Small confirmed.
It’s not yet known if he is a resident of the row house or what relationship he might have had with the victims. His identity has not been disclosed.
Anyone else who may have information, including neighbors who may have witnessed the shooting, are being called upon to help police.
The relationship between the two women is not known, but it is believed that they lived at the residence.
“At this time we have no motive for the shooting,” Small said.
No arrests have been made yet.
This suspected double homicide marked the 18th and 19th slayings in Philadelphia so far in 2018.
