Two victims are in hospital after a Johns Island shooting and South Carolina police are on the hunt for the people that put them there.
At approximately 4:00 a.m. on January 25, 2018, members of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call regarding a Johns Island shooting. The officers headed to the area of Jesse Qualls Drive on Johns Island.
Upon arrival, officers were notified that a green Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck had blocked the road and multiple shooters had begun firing at two individuals.
Neighbors reported being able to hear the shots from their homes.
Shooters Unknown to Victims
According to officials, the assailants were unknown to the victims in the Johns Island shooting. The two victims were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to their arms.
As of this writing, the identity and medical condition of both victims had yet to be made public.
Recent Johns Island Shooting Not the First
This is just the latest in a number of Johns Island shootings in the past six months.
Twenty-six-year-old Johns Island resident Chad Montrelle Cohen was jailed in December 2017 for allegedly shooting at another man 10 times in a dispute over a used car. Cohen has been hit with several charges including attempted murder, illegally carrying a firearm, and drug possession.
In October 2017, 17-year-old Kheali Gregory Aneas Brown was arrested after the shooting and robbery of a 16-year-old boy. He was eventually charged with attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
