On late Tuesday (March 14) night, a Pikeville officer, Scotty Hamilton, was shot and killed in the line of duty while investigating a case with the Kentucky State Police. He is survived by his wife and their small daughter. Below are some facts about Scotty Hamilton.
While conducting an investigation, a Pikeville officer in eastern Kentucky was shot to death late Tuesday night. A press conference was held early this morning at the Pikeville Police Department, in which Mayor Jimmy Carter said that Hamilton was a 12-year veteran of the department.

Hamilton was helping the Kentucky State Police investigate a crime that took place in the Hurricane Creek area of Pike County when he was shot. The investigation is still ongoing, and no suspects have been arrested at this time. Scotty Hamilton is survived by his wife and their daughter.
Who Was Scotty Hamilton?
According to his Facebook page, Hamilton lived in Pikeville, Kentucky. He graduated from Shelby Valley High School before attending Big Sandy Community and Technical College.In 2006, Hamilton graduated from the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training’s Basic Training Academy. He underwent 18 weeks of training, which included more than 750 hours of recruit-level officer academy instruction.
For his hard work and excellent conduct, Hamilton was given a Coordinator’s Award and a Performance Award in Physical Fitness. He started working at Pikeville City Police Department the same year he graduated.

Hamilton was married to Chelsi Lawson Hamilton who is also from Pikeville, Kentucky. Her Facebook profile states that they got married in February 2013. Scotty and Chelsi Hamilton have a sweet little daughter, who is a constant fixture on her mother’s social media pages. It is truly a very hard time for the Hamilton family.
