A suspect broke into a residence at the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments located at 2929 Peach St. on May 8, and shot Michael Smith, 45, to death. Authorities now believe that the assailant was Rotrick Dean Ivory.

Investigators believe that 29-year-old Ivory broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. Initial reports said that the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

Ivory reportedly fled the scene in a white Chevy HHR with after-market rims. Smith was shot at least four times, and pronounced dead on the scene. His autopsy report is yet to be released.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Rotrick Deon Ivory. He’s being charged with a single count of second-degree murder. A bond has been set at $750,000.
