Pop singer Rihanna’s holidays have been interrupted in the most tragic of ways, as her cousin was mysteriously gunned down on Boxing Day. We’ve got all of the details below.
A Shooting on the Island of Barbados
Twenty-one-year-old Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was walking near his home in the Eden Lodge area of St. Michael’s, Barbados at approximately 7:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, December 26 when a man stepped out. It is believed that a number of shots were fired, many of them into Alleyne. Tavon Alleyne would later die in hospital.
The murder of Tavon Alleyne is part of a rash of gun violence that has plagued Barbados over the past few years. Out of the 28 murders committed on Barbados in 2017 so far, 22 of those have been due to gun violence.
One Body, Few Clues
Tavon Alleyne is cousin to pop singer Rihanna. The two had celebrated family Christmas together, just hours before Alleyne was shot. Rihanna took to her Instagram account to mourn her cousin publicly.
Meanwhile, police haven’t indicated how much evidence was to be found at the crime scene, if any at all.
Tanella Alleyne, the sister of the victim, posted a photo of herself with Alleyne in the hospital, as well as the following:
“This was our first Christmas together we clean we decorate and everything!! Tavon I know you was trying to be a better person!! I loveee you soooo muchhhhhhhhh brother omg!”
The line “I know you was trying to be a better person” has been noticed by many online true crime watchers, who are curious what that actually means and if it has any connection to Tavon Alleyne and why he was a target of the unknown gunman. Hopefully more news is to come, and with it, the possible capture of his killer.
