In Pasco County, Florida, police are investigating the death of a woman who was shot by a man claiming it was in self-defense.

Resident Shot Woman in Self-Defense
Details are still coming out due to the nature of the ongoing investigation but here is what we know so far.
On April 5, at approximately 2:18 a.m. at 39829 Otis Allen Rd., police were called due to a shooting. Upon their arrival, they found a 37-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. She was brought to a local hospital where she was then pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, the woman came to the residence with a number of other people. She was armed and began threatening a man at the residence. The man claims that he shot the woman in self-defense.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Much of the case is still be withheld from the public. The identity of the male shooter is currently unknown, but Tampa Bay’s ABC Action News is reporting that the victim is 37-year-old Brandy Contreras of Dade City.
Contreras is known to police, as she has a record that includes resisting arrest, grand theft, domestic violence, petit theft, drug possession, and battery. There is currently no word on why she may have been threatening the resident who shot her.
