Missing Paynesville Couple’s Dead Bodies Found in a Car, Grandson Arrested

The search for a missing Paynesville couple is over, as they have been found dead. Their grandson was arrested.

Police are trying to piece together what happened that led up to the couple’s deaths, and how much their grandson was involved.

Trio Go Missing

On Wednesday (March 21), relatives of 93-year-old Willie Scheel, his wife 80-year-old Gloria Scheel, and their grandson 33-year-old Gregory Scheel, reported that the trio went missing after not showing up for a dinner engagement.

The elderly couple were last seen at Teal’s Market in Paynesville on Wednesday at around 12:45 p.m. Gregory’s workplace also expressed concern as he did not show up for his shift.

Missing Couple Are Tragically Found

A search for all three Scheels began. At 5:00 p.m. on Thursday (March 22), a 2011 Toyota Prius belonging to the elderly couple was found in Kandiyohi County. Just off a back road, the bodies of Willie and Gloria were found inside.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. that same day, Gregory was found very much alive. He was then booked on previous arrest warrants. As of this writing, Gregory Scheel has no charges in regards to the death of his grandparents.

What Happened to Willie and Gloria Scheel?

Currently, the police are being very tight-lipped on the details regarding Willie and Gloria Scheel’s deaths. They stated that there is no immediate threat to the public, and that they are currently not looking for any suspects.
