Michael Lawson’s Murder Allegedly Triggered by Lewd Photo

Jealousy is being blamed for the murder of Michael Lawson. David Saunders received a lewd photo from his girlfriend, Sarah Bramley, showing her performing a sex act on Lawson. Authorities contend that Saunders then stabbed Lawson. Here is everything you need to know about the case.

It’s alleged that a photo of a sex act involving his girlfriend and another man drove David Saunders to murder. The prosecution says that when Saunders received the image from his girlfriend, Sarah Bramley, he immediately grabbed a knife and took a taxi to Bramley’s home in Darlington, England. There, he’s said to have fatally stabbed his romantic rival, Michael Lawson.

Teesside Crown Court heard that after receiving the photo on June 30, 2017, Saunders, 33, told his girlfriend, “I’m coming over. You’ll see me angry. Keep him there.”

Saunders met Lawson, 34, outside the home and the two got into an argument over Bramley. Saunders then allegedly attacked Lawson with the knife and delivered a single fatal blow.

According to Prosecutor Nick Dry, both men had been in an on-and-off relationship with Bramley.

Saunders has pleaded guilty to the murder on the basis that he didn’t take the knife to the scene. He insists that Lawson was the one who had the knife. Saunders is facing a trial of issue in front of a judge only.

Saunders said, “I was upset, really upset and angry. I loved her. It was not nice to see that. I felt angry at both of them.”

Dry told the court, “It is the Crown’s case that the defendant traveled down armed and in a jealous rage to make good the threats he had issued… CCTV supports that contention as opposed to his claim that he only intended to damage Mr. Lawson’s car and happened upon him by accident.”

Saunders admits that he once damaged Lawson’s car because he caught Lawson at Bramley’s home. Saunders said, “I saw his car outside her house and went in through the door. He ran out of the back, then I heard his car start. I ran out and punched out a window of his car and kicked off his wing mirror.”

Regarding the argument he had with Lawson on the day of the murder, Saunders testified, “I told him, ‘She just used you; she has been texting and ringing me.’ He said, ‘Why don’t you f— off and leave me alone.’ He pushed me. I pushed him back.

“I saw something in his hand. I saw it was a knife in his right hand. I kicked the bottom of his wrist. I chased him, he slipped on the grass. I kicked out at him. I flung my arm out and stabbed him with the knife I had taken from him. I stabbed him but I didn’t intend to kill him.”

The hearing is still in progress.
