
On Sunday, gunshots were fired near Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. One person was killed and another suffered a leg injury. Read on to know more about the case.
The city of Miami is currently dealing with the loss of one of its residents who was shot just a few blocks west of Camillus House, and one block away from Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
Miami Police Department revealed that the shooting took place around 6:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Northwest Eighth Avenue. The victims were gravely injured, with one of them later passing away.
Reportedly, the victim who died after being shot in the chest was 30-year-old Alfonso Artice. The other man, who was shot in the leg, remains unnamed.

Authorities say that both men were immediately taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. The surviving victim is said to be in stable condition and is currently in the hospital recovering.
After hearing the gunshots, many called 911. One witness, who chose to remain anonymous, said that he saw the shooter running away after firing and, “I thought it was firecrackers but it was real gunfire.”
A spokeswoman for the Miami Police Department, Kenia Fallat, said, “We do know the two persons were standing outside when they were just shot at. There’s a lot we’re trying to piece together at this very time.”

Though the gunman has not yet been identified, authorities are still investigating the case and working to determine the motive. Anyone who saw the shooter is asked to come forward to Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
