Man Found Shot Dead in His Car in Newport News

Early Monday (May 14) morning in Newport News, Virginia, authorities discovered a body in a car. The investigation about this mysterious death is currently ongoing. 

At around 1:12 a.m. authorities received a call about an undefined problem in the 500 block of Coral Court. When Newport News Police responded to the scene, they saw a male slumped inside a parked vehicle.

He had a gunshot wound to his upper body, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have since identified the victim as Derrius Franklin, 23, of Fayetteville. No additional details about Franklin, or any possible suspect, are known at this time.
