Man Found Dead in South Oakland, Pittsburgh: Police Investigation Ongoing

Residents of the South Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh were disturbed when the body of a man was found on the street. Pittsburgh police arrived, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.

The usually quiet street in the South Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was in an uproar on Monday (March 26) afternoon, when the body of a man was found. Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Alicia George said that officers were sent to the 3200 block of Ward Street soon after 5:30 p.m. after receiving information that a man’s body was lying on the middle of the street.

Man Found Dead on Scene

George said, “Upon arrival, officers observed a male laying on the street suffering from a gunshot wound.” The man appeared to have been shot at least once, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released the victim’s name. The immediate area was cleared by officials to help preserve the integrity of any possible evidence.

Residents Deeply Perturbed

The area is mostly populated by the elderly, families, and college students, many of whom were in shock after the incident. They said that they never saw anything like this, and would stay indoors for a while. However, police declared the area to be safe and said that the public was not at risk in any way.
