Larry Nassar is currently serving a sentence to spend the rest of his natural life in prison for sexually assault. But more accusers are still coming forward. The latest is a male gymnast.
Jacob Moore joined the civil suit against Nassar and is the first male gymnast to do so. The following is Moore’s story and accusations.
Why Jacob Moore Came Forward
If Jacob Moore’s name sounds familiar, it might be due to his sister. Kamerin Moore was one of the many of Nassar’s accusers to make an impact statement against the doctor during his sentencing, and mentioned Jacob Moore’s story in the statement. According to Moore, it was his sister’s public strength that led him to come out with his story and join the lawsuit.
“I was inspired by my sister and everyone else in this community to come out and help bring change to what allowed this to happen. I don’t want [other victims] to be scared to come out because of stigma that guys can’t be sexually abused or taken advantage of.”
Moore is currently a gymnast and student at the University of Michigan.
Jacob Moore’s Story
According to Moore, like many of the other gymnasts, Nassar invited him to his home in order to treat a shoulder injury. They went down to the basement of Nassar’s home.
When he got there, Nassar pulled off Moore’s pants and administered acupuncture on his genital area, claiming that it would help with his shoulder issue. According to the complaint, Moore claims that Nassar asked a young female gymnast, a minor at the time of the incident who was also receiving treatment in his home, if she ever saw a man’s genital parts before.
The Acupuncture Did Not Help
Moore’s complaint in the lawsuit is simple. The acupuncture that Nassar provided had no connection to the shoulder injury, nor had the ability to help Moore’s shoulder injury. Moore later had to have surgery to fix the issue. Due to this, the only perceived reason Nassar would have to perform such a procedure is his own sexual gratification.
The Civil Suit
The huge civil suit that Moore joined not only targets Nassar. The suit is also against a number of other defendants, both individual and groups. Some of the defendants include Michigan State, USA Gymnastics, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and Twistars Gymnastics.
The complaint mentioned in the lawsuit boils down to one issue: Everyone that the civil suit was filed against knew about complaints against Nassar, and none of them did much about it. At the time of this writing, it is unknown if Moore filed any complaints with the police.
