Kailen Kelly Charged with DUI Manslaughter in the Killings of a Child and Teen

Two young girls were killed when their vehicle was hit by a car driven by Kailen Kelly, age 35, on County Road 197A in Florida on May 6, 2018. Kelly is believed to have been drunk at the time of the crash, and has been charged with DUI manslaughter.

Another drunk driving accident is believed to have occurred over the weekend on County Road 197A, Florida. A child and a teenager were killed in a fiery car crash. Kailen Kelly, age 35, has been charged with DUI manslaughter after his car collided head-on into another vehicle, and killed two of its occupants.

The crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Kelly, who is suspected of being drunk at the time, drove straight into the other vehicle, in which a seven-year-old and a 17-year old were among the occupants.

Both girls were killed in the crash. Their names have not been released by the Florida Highway Patrol yet, as their families still need to be informed.

Two more occupants of the other vehicle —driver Melanie Harell, age 39, and passenger McKenzie Murphy, age 18— were seriously injured. Kelly suffered minor injuries as his car rolled into a ditch and burst into flames.
