Jeffrey Dahmer is also infamously known as the Milwaukee Cannibal. He was a serial killer and sex offender who raped, killed, and dismembered 17 men and boys. Dahmer was convicted for most of the murders and was sentenced to 16 terms of life imprisonment. When he was convicted for his crimes, Dahmer was taken to the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin.
Is Jeffrey Dahmer Alive?
On the morning of November 28, 1994, Dahmer and two other inmates, Jesse Anderson and Christopher Scarver, left their cells to complete their assigned work. The three men were in the showers of the prison gym and they were left unsupervised for 20 minutes. According to sources, around 8:10 a.m., Dahmer was found on the gym’s bathroom floor with severe head and facial injuries. He had been hit in the head and face with a metal bar.
Dahmer’s head had also been hit against the wall several times. When Dahmer was found, he was still alive and taken to the hospital for treatment. However, an hour after arrival, Dahmer succumbed to his injuries. Jesse Anderson was also bludgeoned with the same bar and he died two days later.
Who Killed Jeffrey Dahmer?
Christopher Scarver was serving a life sentence in prison for a murder he committed in 1990. Scarver told the authorities that he first assaulted Dahmer with the bar when Dahmer was cleaning a locker room. Scarver also disclosed that Dahmer did not make any noise while he was being attacked. Immediately after the attacks, Scarver went back to his cell and told the prison guard, “God told me to do it. Jesse Anderson and Jeffrey Dahmer are dead.”
Initially, Scarver insisted that he did not plan to attack both men in advance. But later on, he confessed that he had hidden the 20-inch iron bar in his clothes before the murders.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s Killer
Following the death of Jeffrey Dahmer, the response from his victims’ families was mixed. Dahmer’s mother was furious and heartbroken. In 1995, Scarver was sentenced to two additional terms of life imprisonment for killing Dahmer and Anderson.
Although Scarver said in 1994 that he hid the metal bar to kill both men, in 2015, Scarver revealed that the murders happened because of a confrontation that ensued when one of his two victims poked Scarver in the back. Afterwards, Scarver followed Dahmer to the staff locker room. He also revealed that he was repulsed by Dahmer’s crimes, and he even showed Dahmer a newspaper article about his killings and asked him to answer if the account was true.
In his will, Dahmer revealed that he didn’t want a funeral service and he wanted his body to be cremated. In September 1995, Dahmer was cremated and his ashes were given to his parents.
