Homicide Investigation Underway Near Estero Community Park

Deputies in Estero, Florida were dispatched to investigate a homicide that took place early Tuesday morning near Estero Community Park.

At 7:15 a.m. on April 10, 2018, Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at 9351 Corkscrew Road, near Estero Community Park in Estero, Florida. They found two bodies in the parking lot.

Officials have confirmed that the Major Crimes Unit is still investigating the case.

Monday Night Shooting

Residents in the area reportedly heard 18 gunshots, some believed to be from a shotgun, at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

The next day, Lee County deputies found three vehicles, two trucks and a smaller car, with bullet holes in the same parking lot where the two victims were found.

Both victims are described as being dressed in gray workers’ clothing, but details about their identities haven’t yet been released.

Though not much is known at this time, police believe that multiple people were involved in the shooting. No details on suspects have been released yet. 

Block Closed as Police Investigate

The area around Corkscrew Road from Cypress Park Circle and Design Parc Lane was closed off as detectives were at the scene.

They are currently investigating the crime as a homicide, but did not reveal much else about their findings.

Neither the park nor its entrance will be closed off, Lee County Communications Director Betsy Clayton confirmed.
