Gonzalo Barajas: The Adult Booked in Santa Ana Jail for Committing Multiple Crimes

Thanks to CCTV footage of a gas station, officials were able to arrest Gonzalo Barajas who committed multiple robberies on May 3. More details about the suspect are below.

Who Is Gonzalo Barajas?

According to his Facebook profile, 22-year-old Gonzalo Barajas lives in Fullerton, California. He seems to be passionate about fitness, as there are multiple videos and photos of him at the gym.

He seems to have a younger brother named Guadalupe Barajas, who lives in Santa Ana, where the robberies occurred. 

Might Have a Farm

Barajas posted multiple photos with donkeys, goats, and cows, which might mean that he owns, works, or frequently visits a farm.

Crimes Committed

On Thursday at around 1:30 p.m. Barajas left his house in the 600 block of S. Ross. He was carrying an assault-style rifle, and committed several crimes in different locations.

  1. At 625 S. Ross, he pointed the rifle at two Edison workers.
  2. At O’Reilly’s Auto Parts on 1015 S. Main, he flashed the rifle at employees.
  3. At NunosBros Market on 1206 S. Standard, he once again brandished the weapon at employees
  4. Barajas robbed 76 Gas Staion on 1502 E. Edinger at gunpoint
  5. At two different places on 1400 S. Auto Mall Dr., he raised the rifle

There is CCTV footage of the robbery on Edinger, which helped police get a physical description of the suspect. The employees were able to note down his vehicle and its license plate. It was given to the Santa Ana police, and distributed to other departments in the area.

Tustin PD communications was notified of a man with a rifle inside a gray BMW in the 15000 block of Kensington Park. Before officials arrived, Barajas fled the scene, and went to The District shopping center in Tustin.

Officials were informed of a man with a rifle who was threatening customers inside a PetSmart and Target. Barajas fled the scene again, and began a vehicle pursuit with Santa Ana police.

Barajas soon surrendered and was taken into custody. Officials found an unloaded assault-style rifle in his car.

Booked in Santa Ana Jail

Bajaras is currently in Santa Ana jail. He is charged with assault with deadly weapon, armed robbery, and additional weapons charges.
