Former NY Governor Eliot Spitzer Accused of Making Death Threats

Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer is back in the news again. This time, Spitzer is accused of threatening to kill two different parties.

Eliot Spitzer Death Threat Accusation #1

If you’ve followed Eliot Spitzer’s downfall, the name Svetlana Zakharova may sound familiar. That’s because she was part of his last scandal.

The Russian escort dated Spitzer for a time and accused him of assault at the Plaza Hotel in New York in February 2016. Once police began investigating, she changed and then recanted her testimony.

Once Zakharova headed to Russia for a visit, police dug a little deeper and found evidence that she had allegedly been extorting money from Spitzer. When she came back to the U.S. in October 2016, she was promptly arrested.

Zakharova pleaded guilty in October 2017 to a separate charge for trying to steal rent money from an ex. As part of the deal, the charges that she had allegedly tried to extort Spitzer were dropped.

In January 2018, Zakharova made headlines again after accusing Spitzer of making a death threat against her over the phone. She presented a recording of an expletive-laden phone call to New York police on January 5, sources told the New York Post.

The man in the recording can be heard to say: “You f–king bitch! You piece of s–t. And then you f–king destroyed my life! You know what’s going to happen to you? You’re going to be f–king dead. You’re going to die a slow painful death and your family is going to look at you and laugh because you’re a f–king bitch.”

Eliot Spitzer Death Threat Accusation #2

On January 2, Eliot Spitzer was reportedly walking past a table occupied by several businessmen, including Jamie Antolini, at the upscale restaurant Avra Madison Estiatorio in Midtown New York.

Antolini claims that Spitzer overheard him praising the ex-governor’s longtime nemesis, Home Depot founder Kenneth Langone.

“All I said was, ‘Ken Langone would have been the best president ever,’” Antolini said.

The mention of Langone allegedly enraged Spitzer. According to Antolini, Spitzer “lost his mind” and the tantrum lasted for around 20 minutes.

Spitzer allegedly told Antolini, “I don’t know who the f–k you think you are! I’ll f–king have you killed!… I’m going to f–king stab you with a f–king knife in the c—k.”

Antolini says Spitzer was eventually escorted out of the restaurant by security.

Spitzer has denied both accusations.
