Josh’s mother was identified as Lauren Lew, 33. Josh was the older of Lauren Lew’s two sons. She has a six-month old son, Samuel. According to reports, she frantically tried to revive him with chest compressions.
Witnesses described Lauren’s frenzied state when the crash occurred. “The mom was sitting there next to him screaming,” said a witness, “She was just kind of, ‘Oh, God, this can’t be happening. Tell me this isn’t happening. What’s going on?’” The witness, a medical student, had tried to help Lew save her son but it was too late.
“He’s a darling little boy,’’ Josh’s grief-stricken grandmother said, “I still can’t believe it.”
Lauren was injured in the crash and was hospitalized with the other victims. Her condition is reportedly stable.
