Chicago Rapper G Herbo Arrested on Felony Weapons Charge

Chicago rapper G Herbo was arrested Thursday on a felony weapons charge. Also known as Herbert Wright, the rapper was arrested along with two other men after a traffic stop in the South Loop of Chicago. All three men were allegedly carrying loaded guns.

G Herbo, a young rapper from Chicago, has been arrested on a weapons charge.

He and two other men in the same vehicle were pulled over by Chicago Police as part of a traffic stop within the first block of East Roosevelt Rd., in the South Loop. The stop occurred around 10:35 p.m. on February 22, 2018.

The police allegedly found the three men to be armed with loaded guns.

The rapper and his two companions were arrested at the scene.

Twenty-two-year-old G Herbo, aka Herbert Wright, 25-year-old Deavonte Royale Kimbale, and 36-year-old Marchello Walton have each been charged with a felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon in a vehicle without a firearm owner identification (FOID) card.

Wright and the two other unnamed men are slated to appear in bond court today, February 23.

The rapper on the rise, formerly known as Lil’ Herb, is “one of the best young spitters in the game,” according to UPROXX.

G Herbo gained popularity with his release “Kill Sh*t” featuring Lil’ Bibby. He has collaborated with other artists such as Lil Uzi, Common, Nicki Minaj, and Chance the Rapper. Wright released his first solo effort, Humble Beast, in 2017; and he recently added 14 new tracks to it. So far, the album has hit #21 on the Billboard Top 200.

According to his web site, G Herbo was scheduled to perform at The Intersection in Grand Rapids, Michigan tonight and at The Dome in Wallingford, Connecticut on February 24. There’s no word on the status of those shows or the tickets sold to fans.
