Scottsdale Police Discover Two Bodies: Drugs Likely Cause of Death

When Scottsdale, Arizona police entered a luxury apartment on December 8, 2017, they found the bodies of 24-year-old Brock Haman and 25-year-old Veronica Birk. Both had been dead for a while, and evidence at the scene indicated that drugs were to blame.

Veronica Birk’s mother had not seen her daughter for a week and became increasingly worried. Finally, she requested that Scottsdale, Arizona police conduct a welfare check. The police set out to conduct the welfare check at the Cibola Apartment Complex on December 8, 2017. In one of the luxury apartments, they found the dead bodies of Birk, 25, and Brock Haman, 24.

According to the police, Birk and Haman were found in the bathroom. It appeared that they’d both been dead for a while. They also found evidence at the scene that strongly suggests the deaths were drug-related. A medical examiner is determining the exact cause of death.

Brock Haman and Veronica Birk were described as acquaintances, Sergeant Ben Hoster added.

A Promising Life Lost

Brock Haman was a one-time Arizona State University football player who was recruited from Saguaro High School in 2010. Haman started and stopped playing football for the Sun Devils in 2011.

Haman’s uncle, Devin, posted an emotional tribute to his nephew on December 9, writing, “Today is one of the saddest days of my life. I found out that my nephew Brock Haman passed away. He was such a nice and amazing boy with so much life left in him… I love you Brock and will miss you so much. You will always be in my prayers. May God bless you.”

There are no further details available on Veronica Birk at this time.

The police have said that there are no suspects, but they are still investigating the deaths.
