Austin Wyatt Rollins: More on the 17-Year-Old Gunman Who Died after Great Mills High School Shooting

The gunman of the Great Mills High School shooting has been identified as Austin Wyatt Rollins, who is said to have been in a previous relationship with the young woman he shot.

We now have some information on the Great Mills High School shooter, and some factors that may have contributed to the shooting.

Details on Austin Rollins

More details are slowly coming out about the 17-year-old gunman, Austin Wyatt Rollins. We know that he was a student at Great Mills High School. According to his Facebook page, Rollins was from Lexington Park, Maryland.

Officials revealed that Rollins had a prior connection with the 16-year-old female student who was critically wounded when she was shot. Some news outlets stated that the two were in a relationship, or she was Rollins’ ex-girlfriend.

Rollins used a 9mm semi-automatic handgun to carry out his attack. The gun was likely obtained illegally, as Maryland law states that no one under the age of 21 can purchase, or even possess, a firearm unless it is needed for their occupation

The Unknown

Despite the shooter being identified, there are still a number of questions in regards to the shooting. As of this writing, it is still unclear if the 14-year-old boy injured in the attack was a target or an innocent bystander.

It is also unknown where Rollins got his handgun. It has yet to be clarified if his death was self-inflicted, or as a result of the gunfight.
