2 Police Officers Injured in SE Austin, APD Advises Caution

Two police officers were injured after being shot in Southeast Austin, Texas on Sunday night. They were taken to the hospital where they were treated and declared to be in stable condition. Police advised people in the area to remain indoors.

Austin police confirmed that two officers were shot on the night of March 25. Officials said that both officers were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center by the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. Both are in stable condition.

The incident was reported at 10:49 p.m. on Ponciana Drive, near East Stassney Lane. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, one injured officer was in his 30s, while the other was in his 50s. Both are expected to be fine.

The Austin Police Department is currently working a shots fired call in the 5500 block of Ponciana Drive. They said that the scene is currently not safe, and requested residents in the area to stay inside until further notice. The media has been told to stay in the staging area. No further information is available at this time.
