2 Dead in Ohio Township Shooting Near Avonworth Schools

Pennsylvania police are investigating a shooting that ended with two men dead.

This is the latest information about the shootings on Rebecca Drive in Ohio Township, Pennsylvania, how police were involved, and what they discovered.

Police-Involved Shooting

Just before 6:00 a.m. on April 4, police arrived at a residence on Rebecca Drive after several calls were made to 911 in regards to shots being fired. The call was later updated to say that an armed man was trying to get into the house.

Upon their arrival, police set up a perimeter around the area. Officers encountered an armed male, 62 years old, dressed all in black. The armed man was given numerous instructions by police to lay down his weapon.

He apparently raised his gun to fire on officers, and one police officer shot at the armed man as he may have fired. Police are currently unsure if the bullet that ended the armed man’s life came from police or from the officer’s gun.

Another Body Found

Upon further investigation, another body was found at the scene, apparently dead due to a gunshot.

According to witnesses, the 56-year-old man was on his way to his car when the armed man came up and shot him. Currently, police are not releasing the identities of either man, but the second body is that of the homeowner and longtime resident.

Due to the shooting and ongoing investigation, the start of Avonworth School District’s day was delayed by two hours.
