Ohio is the scene of yet another homicide as two people were arrested by SWAT at a residence in the Franklinton area after a shooting. This is the latest on Larry Eugene Dayton’s murder.
One Victim, Two Suspects
Columbus police were called to a residence on Wisconsin Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. after a reported shooting. What they found was 59-year-old Larry Dayton, unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead at the scene.
After a bit of detective work, Columbus SWAT descended on a residence near Woodbury and West Mound streets at approximately 9:00 a.m. on April 22, 2018. The police arrested two suspects, 28-year-old Scott Salyer and 18-year-old Meagan Purks, without incident.
Details on the Shooting
Police are currently keeping many of the details of the murder under wraps, but a few details of the case have come to light. Police allege that Salyer and Purks went to Dayton’s Wisconsin Avenue address in order to purchase an assault rifle.
Once he had the rifle in hand, Salyer allegedly loaded the weapon and pointed it at Dayton, demanding money. During the altercation, Salyer fired and then escaped, authorities say.
Both Salyer and Purks were arrested and charged with the murder of Dayton. Purks was also charged with an additional felony juvenile offense.
What We Know about the Suspects
Salyer and Purks are currently being held without bond in Franklin County Jail. Their next court date is scheduled for April 23.
The Facebook page that reportedly belongs Salyer features a man covered in tattoos, including the word “goon” and a portrait of Al Capone. The page also states that Salyer may be attending Columbus State University. It appears as though the two suspects are in a relationship.
