1 Man Dead in Shooting at Shreveport Apartment; Suspect Still at Large

Shreveport, Louisiana is the site of a deadly shooting that left a man dead, and police are now piecing together clues on what happened.

Dead from at Least 4 Gunshot Wounds

Police are saying that the suspect showed up at approximately 6:00 a.m. on May 8, and forced his way into an apartment at the Cooper Road Plaza Apartments located at 2900 Peach St.

Police stated that the suspect knew the family inside the apartment, and managed to force his way in. Once inside the apartment, the suspect then shot one male resident at least four times, before fleeing the scene in a white Chevy HHR with after-market rims, according to police.

UPDATE: Other than the vehicle’s description, police have released little in the way of details of the attacker. However, authorities have now identified the man killed in the shooting, who suffered at least four gunshot wounds. According to the Caddo coroner’s office, the deceased is 45-year-old Michael Smith, of Shreveport.

Shreveport Police stated that the victim and suspect may have known one another, and the dispute between them was likely domestic in nature.
